Mr. David Sunmoni, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, says the contributions of Mr. Tolani Sule to the institution remain indelible.
He said that Sule, Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Lagos State, had a passion for education that would continue to impact many lives beyond the boundaries of the university.
Sunmoni spoke at a valedictory session of the Lagos State University Governing Council in honour of Sule on Thursday in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sule is a former member of the 12th Governing Council, LASU.
At the beginning of the second tenure of Gov. Sanwo-Olu as Lagos State governor, he was appointed as the pioneer commissioner of the Lagos State Ministry of Tertiary Education.
“Throughout his tenure as a member of this council, he consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment to the progress and development of our university with his active participation.
“Sule’s wisdom, guidance, and tireless efforts were instrumental in promoting academic excellence, fostering innovation, and nurturing and upholding the fundamental principles on which the council was established,” Sunmoni said.
He said that the council and LASU wished him continued success and fulfillment in all his endeavors.
Sunmoni said that Sule’s integrity and excellence in service delivery would continue to guide the institution towards creating a brighter future.
Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice-Chancellor, LASU, appreciated Sule for his selfless service, particularly his contributions to the issues pertaining to the development of the university.
Olatunji-Bello said that there was no better way to celebrate a man whose selflessness and sacrifice had contributed in no small way to actualizing her vision as the VC.
“No doubt, Sule is a beacon of unwavering commitment and boundless passion in the corridors of academia where vision meets action and leadership ignites charge, she said.
Mr. Cornelius Ojelabi, Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State, described Sule as a great and fantastic teacher.
Ojelabi said that Sule’s portfolio, being a great educator, made him get the appointment of the pioneer commissioner for tertiary education.
“We will appreciate whatever you can do to assist all the tertiary institutions in Lagos. I also call on all institutions to support him,” he said.
In his remarks, Sule appreciated the management of LASU and the governing council for honoring and celebrating his new position.
He promised to improve and contribute immensely to all Lagos State-owned universities.
Sule said that his appointment was based on his membership in the council of the university.
“This is a council but also a learning ground for me because I gained a lot of experience and knowledge from my membership in this council,” he said.(NAN)
