The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Revenue Taskforce says it will commence a comprehensive routine enforcement operation across all business premises within the council.

The Chairman of the taskforce, Mr Musa Aliyu, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, warned that all defaulters would be dragged before a Mobile Court.

Aliyu revealed that as part of the council’s strict enforcement strategy, the names of defaulting businesses and individuals would be published in national daily newspapers to serve as a deterrent.

“Pay your taxes and rates directly to AMAC accounts today, keep your receipts safely at your business premises, and help us build a better capital city for everyone.

“Do not wait for the taskforce to knock on your door,” he advised.

The chairman explained that the goal of the operation was to verify evidence of revenue payments and ensure strict compliance with AMAC revenue laws.

He warned business owners, corporate organizations, and operators of commercial premises that the era of revenue evasion within the council was over.

He said any business found without valid proof of payment for statutory rates, fees, or levies during the routine operation would face immediate legal consequences.

“We are entering a phase of zero tolerance for revenue leakages and evasion.

“Our team will be moving from shop to shop, office to office, and business to business.

“If you cannot produce your valid AMAC receipt or proof of payment on demand, your business premises will be sealed, and you will be brought before the AMAC Mobile Court for immediate prosecution,” Aliyu said.

He advised business owners with outstanding dues to clear them immediately to avoid embarrassment of business closure, legal prosecution, and severe penalties.

The chairman emphasized that all payments must be made directly into the dedicated AMAC revenue accounts. (NAN)
