The Igbo-Ukwu Community in Aguata Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra, has mourned Chief Njideka Ezeife, the wife of former Gov. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, whose death was announced last week.
Chief Christian Ike,the President General of the Community told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Friday that Njideka death was a tragedy and a great loss not only to Ezeife’s family but to the community as a whole.
“This is a woman with every sense of womanhood, she is a good woman a role model ,she is what everybody would ask for in a wife, mother, sister, sister in law, friend and a neighbor.
“She is a very humble woman, no body in the community to speak ill of her, I have never heard she had a problem with anyone in the community.
“She lowered herself even more when her husband became the governor, nobody will through her carriage know that she was the wife of a governor, she was an example to women of all ages,” he said.
Ike said that Ezeife showed herself at first during the period her husband was the president general of the community through her philanthropic gestures and care for the downtrodden.
“ In the earlier 1990 to 1991 before her husband became the state governor she was known for her charity work in the community and even when she became the first lady of the state her life style did not change,” he said.
The president general said that the deceased died in her late 70’s and that was the most ripe age for her to give more counseling to crop of new generation women on how to build a home and raise children.
“She was known for admonishing women and young wives on how to make the marriage grow better and show hospitality to guests of the family, her death was so sudden and we will really miss her personality,” he said.
Also speaking, Dr. Levi Muonanu, a close relative of the Ezeife family describe her as a philanthropist and very humane personality that would be hard to replace in the community.
“She was a wife to everybody in the home and was very easy going, pius quiet and patient,” he said.
Chief Eze Akajiugo a very close friend of the family described her as an amazing woman and a precious jewel of the Ezeife dynasty and prayed for her peaceful soul.
He said that the family has lost a rare amazon.
