Awka, March 27, 2026 (NAN) The Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike, has unveiled plans to establish a modern community library in Igboukwu, as part of the council’s commitment to education.
Ofobuike made this known during a site visit to the proposed location of the library project on Friday.
He described access to education as one of the most valuable investments government could make.
“The proposed facility will be a hybrid library, combining physical books with electronic learning resources, to enhance access to knowledge for students and residents.
“The library will be particularly beneficial to students during long holidays by providing access to books and study materials,” he said.
The chairman added that although the council was making progress in other sectors such as healthcare, security and infrastructure, education remained its top priority.
He also disclosed that the council had renovated the Nkpologwu community library as part of efforts to strengthen learning infrastructure in the area.
Also speaking, the Director, Anambra State Library Services, Mrs Obioma Obalum, described the project as a positive step toward community development.
Obalum said the library would be of immense benefit to students, researchers and residents, and urged them to take full advantage of the facility when completed. (NAN)
