The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) says it is committed to bringing succour to job-seeking female professional engineers.
Dr. Atinuke Owolabi, Chairman of APWEN’s Lagos Chapter, restated the association’s commitment on Saturday during her courtesy visit to the Managing Director of Crestech Engineering, Mr. Sobande Gbolahan.
Owolabi listed some of APWEN’s efforts, which include securing three placement slots for primary assignments for female engineers currently at the Lagos State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp.
According to her, the association has also obtained automatic employment for the potential corps members at Crestech Engineering Ltd., subject to their performance.
Owolabi stated that “the visit was to introduce APWEN’s activities and achievements to Crestech while seeking their support and collaboration in potential areas.”.
She added that APWEN had also secured the Lagos Mentorship Desk at Crestech’s office and the opportunity to bring young engineers to Crestech’s office to assess their operations and liaise with Crestech’s female engineers.
The APWEN Lagos chairman also solicited Crestech’s support in setting up an Innovation and Resource Hub at the University of Lagos.
According to her, this will go a long way in providing job opportunities for female professional engineers.
Responding, Crestech’s Managing Director said, “We appreciate APWEN for the visit and pledge to support the association in any possible way.” (NAN)
