Barber docked for allegedly absconding with his employer’s N1m

A 23-year-old barber,  Smart Uche, was docked in a Life Camp Magistrates’ Court in Abuja, for allegedly absconding with his employer’s N1 million.

The police charges Uche, who lives in Gwarinpa, Abuja, with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

Uche however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that the complainant, Eucharia Chinwendu of Katampe Abuja, report the matter at the Gwarinpa Police station on March 27.

Nwachukwu informed the court that the complainant claimed that sometime in November 2025 the defendant collected N1 million from ”Cezarito Beauty and Spa located in Gwarinpa as salary advance.

The police said that the defendant agreed to pay N50,000, every month.

She said after the defendant only worked for two weeks and absconded.

During police investigation, she said, the defender could not give a satisfactory account of his actions.

The Offence she said, contravened the provisions of section 312 and 322 of the penal code.

Magistrate Best Ojukwu admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 and one surety in like sum.

Ojukwu ordered that the surety must be a civil servant and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide a reliable means of identification,

He adjourned the matter until May 21, for hearing. (NAN)
