A Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court in Abuja on Thursday, sentenced a 21-year-old barber, Ibrahim Haruna, to three months imprisonment for stabbing his neighbor with a knife.
The police charged Haruna, who resides in Karomajiji Airport Road, Abuja, with causing grievous hurt.
He pleaded guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Musa Jobbo, in his judgment, sentenced Haruna to three months imprisonment and ordered him to pay a fine of N10,000 for causing injuries to his neighbor.
Jobbo warned the convict to be of good behavior and to desist from crimes after serving out his sentence.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that on May 6, the complainant Mr Labran Isah of Karomajiji village reported at the matter at the Wuye Police station.
Nwachukwu informed the court that the convict accosted the complainant for no reason and stabbed him in the his ribs without provocation.
She told the court that as a result of the stabbing, the complainant sustained grievous injuries.
She said the complainant was rushed to the Hospital for medical treatment and spent N107, 000 to treat himself.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation and interrogation the convict confessed to the crime.
The offence, the prosecutor said, contravened the provisions of Section 243 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
