
Benson, who is the Chairman House Committee on Defence, said the road construction was part of his campaign promises.
He expressed gratitude to the residents for voting massively for him during the last election.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the road, which connects six communities, had been ravaged by flood, with residents facing hectic times around there decades.
Benson promised to continue to bring the dividends of democracy to the people of Ikorodu.
Earlier, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Lagos State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) thanked the lawmaker for enhancing the living standard of residents,
He commended him for strengthening and contributing to the growth of the party in the area.
Ojelabi, urged the residents to believe in their federal lawmaker as he continued to fulfil his promise to improve lives and commerce in the community.
According to him, the lawmaker has touched many lives as reflected in the principles and philosophy of the APC.
He said that Nigeria would get better, as it was moving toward the promised land.
“I urge residents to take ownership of the project, for the betterment of the people.
“Party members should also re-validate their membership as the exercise commences,” he said.
Also speaking, Murisiku Jaiyesinmi, a traditional leader in Ori-Okuta, appreciated the lawmaker for the quick intervention in meeting the yearnings of residents.
Mr Anwoju Olumuyiwa, Chairman, Ori-Okuta Community Development Association, also promised that they would take full ownership of the road and ensure its maintenance, to make it last long.
Also, Mr Gbenga Onayiga, a retired Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria and community leader, said residents had suffered and spent a lot to repair the road before the lawmaker came to their rescue.
“Today, I feel elated, because we have gone through serious hardship and spent over N10m in the past to put it in order before the lawmaker intervened.
“We have put in mechanism to maintain the road, so that we can enjoy it for long time,” Onayiga said.
