The Bishop of Yola Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Stephen Mamza, has tasked political office holders to ensure good representation of their constituents.
Mamza, who made the call in an interview with newsmen in Yola on Monday, urged those in government to work assiduously to cushion the effects of hardship being experienced in the country.
“Electricity is no longer there, you cannot imagine how prices of things have gone beyond the reach of the common man.
“There is no water to drink because of the electricity issue and transportation is costly.
“Some people actually wonder how others survive. I will continue to appeal to the people to be patient.
“We believe with prayers, things will be better,” he said.
Mamza also appreciated the contribution of members of the diocese to the ongoing building project.
“Here at this mass, we have just finished the Cathederaticum.
“The people know that all that we have contributed has been dedicated for the construction of the block of 90 rooms in the three story-building at the pastoral center.
“We are actually preparing for 2027 when all the Bishops of Nigeria will converge in Yola in order to have their second plenary.
“We are preparing for their accommodation, hoping that the building that we have started will be completed before 2027,” he said. (NAN)
