Bricklayer docked over alleged theft of building materials

Okitipupa (Ondo State) Jan. 28, 2026 (NAN) A bricklayer, Olasunkanmi Aworinde, 31, on Wednesday, appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court, in Ondo State, over alleged theft of building materials worth N300,000.

 

The defendant, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

 

The Police prosecutor, ASP Ayodeji Omoyeigha told the court that the defendant and one other at large on Sept. 15, 2025, at 10:30 p.m. at an uncompleted building on Okitipupa-Ikoya road in Okitipupa magisterial district committed felony.

 

Omoyeigha, said that defendant and his accomplice allegedly stole iron rods, aluminium zincs and bags of cement worth N300,000, property of one Olayemi Omowole.

 

The Prosecutor said that the defendant committed the offences that contravened Sections 516 and 390 (9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

 

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

 

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mayowa Olanipekun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum.

 

He, adjourned the case until Feb. 6, for further hearing. (NAN)
