AIT123-400x330A Northern group claiming to be supporting the candidature of Major-General Muhammadu in the March 28 presidential elections has threatened to sack DAAR Communications and its affiliates from the northern part of the country if the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate does not win the election. The Buhari support group, which goes by the name Coalition of Northern Nigeria Muslim Youths (CNNMY), in an undated letter addressed to Daar Communications, owners of AIT, Ray Power and DaarSat, warned that “we will strike and extinguish your very presence from Northern Nigeria (including Abuja)”.

Making the threat, the group said Daar Communication’s reportage of Buhari was unacceptable. The letter which was signed by one Abdulkadir Idris listed as spokesman of the group reads: “Most Nigerian and foreigners are working very hard to change and deliver Nigeria from incompetence and visionless leadership, yet African Independent Television –AIT has spent the last couple of months running media campaign to undo the will of the Nigerian people”. “We will not sit and watch AIT destroy the image that General Buhari have spent the last fifty years (50yrs) building with integrity and honour.

“We inform you that the only thing that can deliver you and your investments (in northern Nigeria) from a violent and drastic extinction is the victory of General Buhari in the forthcoming general elections. “Otherwise, we will strike and extinguish your very presence in northern Nigeria (including Abuja). “This time, you have crossed a deadly line”.

According to a source at Daar Communications, the letter was received at their Abuja office on February 10, 2014.
