A builder, Alaba Mudashiru, on Friday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly obtaining N1,030,000 from his client by false pretences.
Thirty-five-year-old Mudashiru, a resident of Ketu, Lagos State, is facing a two-count charge of obtaining by false pretences and stealing.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Sunday Bassey, alleged that the defendant signed an agreement with the complainant, Mr Kayode Oyebile, and obtained the sum from him between April 23 and Aug. 6, at Ketu.
Bassey said that the defendant collected the money by false pretences of developing the complainant’s one-floor building with seven rooms located at Omo Disu Close, Ikosi, Ketu.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant did not honour the agreement.
He said that the alleged offences contravened Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Daodu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Daodu adjourned the case until Oct. 26, for mention. (NAN)
