The Bundesliga has moved the Borussia Dortmund versus Bayer Leverkusen fixture to a later kick-off on the opening Saturday of the new season instead of the Berlin derby.
In agreement with broadcast partners, one Saturday match is played later than the others and labelled as the “top game.”
In spite of its allure, Union Berlin hosting Hertha Berlin will take place at the same time as other Saturday matches on Aug. 6.
UEFA Champions League qualifiers Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen will instead take centre stage.
A Bundesliga statement on Friday, listing kick-off times for the first seven matchdays of the season, said RB Leipzig would travel to VfB Stuttgart on Aug. 7 before promoted Schalke 04 go to Cologne.
It had already been announced that holders Bayern Munich would open the season with a trip to Eintracht Frankfurt on Aug. 5.(dpa/NAN)
