
An Area Court in Jos sentenced Smart Yahaya, 22, a bus conductor, to three months incarceration for criminal intimidation and causing grievous hurt.
The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
The judge, who gave the convict an option of a fine of N20, 000 also asked him to pay a compensation of N35, 000 or spend an additional three months in prison on default.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp. Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported on Dec. 12, 2024, by Mr. Shanuhli Salisu at the Laranto Police Station, Jos.
He said that the complainant told the police that the convict and one Habu Abubakar, who is currently at large, conspired and beat him up there by inflicting serious injuries on his right leg.
Dabit said that during the police investigation, the suspect confessed to having committed the crime.
He said the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.(NAN)
