LAGOS, Jan 27 – The leadership of the Southeast Zone of the City Boy Movement has strongly condemned a faction led by one Engr. Nwaokorie for alleged fraudulent activities aimed at undermining the unity and integrity of the organisation. In a statement issued following a zonal meeting, the group described the actions of Nwaokorie and his associates as “dishonourable” and “a blatant attempt to hijack” the movement’s structure.

According to the statement signed by the movement’s Zonal Secretary, Prof. I.K. Ogwo, the accused group has been operating a deceptive WhatsApp platform, falsely claiming positions as zonal leaders and issuing unauthorised statements. The leadership characterised these actions as “political opportunism” and “the height of moral bankruptcy.”

“An Affront to Our Principles”

The City Boy Movement leadership decried the actions of Nwaokorie and his associates as a betrayal of the values of loyalty, integrity, and selfless service that the organisation upholds. “These schemers are no more than political vultures propelled by insidious ambitions to undermine the collective will of our members,” the statement read.

The leadership accused the rogue faction of attempting to seize control of a structure painstakingly built through the dedication and resources of its members. “Their actions are a direct assault on the values that define the City Boy Movement and a deliberate effort to mislead the public,” the statement added.

Resolutions and Next Steps

In response, the Southeast zonal leadership outlined a series of resolutions to address the crisis:

  1. Loyalty to Established Leadership: The movement reaffirmed its commitment to its legitimate leadership structure and vowed to reject any illegitimate factions.
  2. Legal Action: The leadership announced its readiness to pursue legal action against the impostors, including reporting them to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
  3. Unified Front: Southeast leaders pledged to remain united in resisting any attempts to destabilise the movement in the region.

Escalation to Grand Patron

The leadership also expressed frustration over the lack of response from the Director-General of the movement, despite repeated attempts to resolve the matter amicably. “Our formal complaints and requests for intervention have been met with silence. This lack of accountability is deeply troubling and indicative of a failure of leadership,” the statement noted.

In light of this, the Southeast Zone has escalated the matter to the movement’s Grand Patron, Seyi Tinubu. “Under his guidance and leadership, we are confident that justice will prevail, and the unity of the movement will be preserved,” the group stated.

A Warning to the Rogue Faction

The leadership issued a stern warning to Nwaokorie and his associates to desist from further attempts to undermine the movement. “The structure we have created is built on sweat, sacrifice, and unyielding commitment. We will not allow it to be hijacked by opportunists driven by self-serving political ambitions,” the statement read.

“Unity and Progress Above All”

The City Boy Movement reaffirmed its mission as a platform for progress and a symbol of unity. “To the enemies of this noble cause, your machinations will crumble under the weight of our collective resolve. We remain unshaken, undeterred, and committed to the ideals that bind us together,” the statement concluded.
