The Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission (PCC) Bauchi State, Alhaji Ahmad Jika, has urged citizens with complaints to seek redress through the organization’s state offices.
Jika gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Bauchi, saying the commission was always already to entertain complaints of injustice from citizens, free of charge.
“PCC was established by the Federal Government to entertain citizens complaints of injustice, corruption, unfair treatment and abuse of office by public officers.
“The commission is to investigate such cases and recommend steps towards discipline or correction of the situation.
“The commission is seen as the machinery that controls administrative excesses, especially in situations whereby the law is abused or not adhered to,” Jika said.
He said the commission entertained not fewer than 250 complaints from citizens monthly in Bauchi State.
“We recorded more than 1000 complaints quarterly and settled not less than 60 to70 per cent depending on the process of investigation.
“We are calling on aggrieved citizens with complaints of injustice to come to the office and complain and our services are free,” he said.
Jika said that in Bauchi State the commission has established offices in Alkaleri, Ningi, Dass, Misau and Katagum Local Government Areas.
“The commission ensures that aggrieved citizens in Nigeria get administrative justice be it from bureaucratic errors, abuse by government officials or limited liability companies in Nigeria. We entertain grievances and complaints of citizens against public servants.
“We investigate cases of corruption, bribery, nepotism and favoritism against public servants.
“We investigate cases of incompetence, use of false documents and inconsistency in the application of civil service rules by civil servants.
“We also investigate loss of documents and vital papers in the civil service and government owned corporations and see to the arrest and prosecute public officers who infringe upon the laws of the country. Hence, we encourage citizens to come and seek redress,” Jika said
NAN reports that the commission also provides impartial investigation on behalf of complainants who feel aggrieved by the action or inaction of the state and local governments and private companies. (NAN).
