The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) says it is collaborating with Real Acts of Kindness (RAK) Development Foundation to establish a youth academy in Badagry, Lagos.

Mr. David Aladeotan, Coordinator, Badagry West Chapter of NYCN, said this at the inauguration of the academy at Sultan Beach, Badagry on Wednesday.

He said the academy was a platform for building, training, impacting, mentoring and empowering youths to enhance national development.

He said it was also to make youths economically dependent and useful to their families, friends and the nation at large.

“We are grateful to have started the launching with 50 students in partnership with RAK foundation.

“These 50 students shall undergo six months training and during graduation, equipment will be provided for them, either individually or in groups, to be monitored by members of NYCN directorates.

“We believe that a serious empowerment is not without working tools and as such we shall partner RAK  in providing the tools,” he said.

Aladeotan, expressed appreciation to the Council Chairman, Mr. Joseph Gbenu, for his support and Mr. Ademola Adesoji, Head of youths Badagry West LCDA, for the successful inauguration.

Speaking, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the Pioneer of RAK foundation, said the collaboration was aimed at developing Badagry West LCDA youths.

“The NYCN Badagry West LCDA reached out to me on the establishment of the academy and I embraced it.

“The academy is aimed at empowering youths of the council and taking them to the next level,” Ogunlende said.

He promised to ensure that the 50 youths would be trained and empowered, and urged them to make judicious use of the opportunity.

Mr. John Ajande, the former Deputy Leader, Badagry West LCDA Legislative Council, commended the organizers of the training, saying it would impact youths in the area.

He promised to assist the first set of youths with tools and equipment to start their own businesses after the training. (NAN)
