Court remands 13 men over alleged attempted murder

An Ikeja Magistrate Court on Thursday remanded 13 men in a Correctional Centre over alleged attempt to commit murder.

The defendants include,  Semiu Toheeb, 32; Idowu Aina, 48; Morufu Sholanke, 57; Adebayo Abiodun, 44; Bola Orimolade, 52; Said Adebiyi, 39 and Jimoh Akeem, 50.

Others are, Tobi Bamidele, 32; Azeez Aliu, 35; Adebiyi Jamiu, 25; Raheem Fatai, 45; Aigbe Augustine, 57 and Adeogun Bamidele, 40.

The Magistrate, Mr Lateef Owolabi, who did not take the pleas of the defendants, ordered that case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

Owolabi adjourned the case until April 29 for DPP’s advice.

The defendants are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, breach of peace and attempted murder.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on April 27 at 4.45 p.m. at Ojo area of Lagos.

Ikhayere said that the defendants armed themselves with cutlasses, broken bottles and knives and inflicted injuries on, Solomon Oriyomi, Olabisi Oriyomi and Giwa Gafaru over an undisclosed matter.

She said that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to breach public peace when they attacked the complainants.

Ikhayere said that the offences contravene Sections 44, 411 and 230(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.(NAN)
