Ado-Ekiti, Jan. 29, 2026 (NAN) A 24-year-old man, Item David, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, over alleged cyber stalking.
The Prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 20 in Ado-Ekiti.
Oriyomi said that the defendant intentionally sent nude pictures and videos of a 24-year-old lady, Moshood Funmilayo, to her friends, family and social media.
He quoted the complainant to have said in her statement to the police that she and the defendant were dating each other but she later told him that she was no longer interested in the relationship.
“After telling him, he threatened to ruin her life and later posted her nude pictures to her friends and family on Whatsapp,” the prosecutor said.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 24(a)&(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2024, as amended.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defendant’s plea was not taken.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre, pending issuance of legal advice.
He adjourned the case till Feb. 27 for mention.(NAN)
