A Kano Sharia Court sitting in Fagge, on Thursday ordered the remand of a 47-year-old man, Danladi Uba-Maidawa, in a Correctional Centre over alleged N180,000 fraud.
The defendant, resident of Hotoro Quarters Kano, is facing a two count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
He, however, pleaded guilty to the charge levelled against him.
The Judge, Dr Bello Khalid, ordered the remand of the defendant in a Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter until Dec. 15, for sentence.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Abdul Wada, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 4, at Hotoro Quarters, Kano.
He said that on the same date, at about 4p.m, the defendant deceitfully collected the sum of N180,000 from his friend, Yusuf Muhammad, a POS operator, to order for goods with intention to refund the money.
“In the process, the defendant converted the money to his own personal use,” he said.
Wada said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 202 and 206 of the Kano State Sharia Law. (NAN)
