Badagry (Lagos State),Oct.28, 2025 (NAN) The police on Tuesday, charged a 37-year-old man, James Ayanda, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing an ATM card.
The defendant, whose address is unknown, is standing trial on charges bordering on stealing.
He however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp. Friday Mameh, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept.30, at Ile-Epo Araromi-Ale, in Badagry.
He alleged that the defendant stole a United Bank for Africa (UBA) ATM card, belonging to one Mr Rasak Lawal.
He alleged that the defendant withdrew the total sum of N134,000 with the stolen ATM card .
According to him, the defendant was eventually arrested by the police and charged to court.
The offence contravenes the provisons of section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr A J Aina, granted the defendant bail in the sum N200,000 with two sureties in the like sum.
He ordered that one of the sureties must be a community leader
Aina adjourned the case until Nov.3, for mention. (NAN)
