The coordinator DICONOWA presenting delivery kits at 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna
The Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria Officers Wives Association(DICONOWA) on Monday donated drugs and delivery kits to some hospitals in Kaduna to boost healthcare delivery.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the hospitals that benefited from the included: DICON staff clinic, 44 Nigerian Army Reference and 461 Nigerian Air Force Hospitals.
The Coordinator, DICONOWA, Dr Uduakobong Edet, said that the donation was part of activities to commemorate DICON’s 60th anniversary.
She said, ”That is why we decided to embark on a medical outreach to our immediate constituency.”
Edet explained that the medical outreach was in line with the vision of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) President.
She explained that they have always discharged their corporate social responsibilities by conducting outreaches outside the military.
“On Tuesday, we will hold the women empowerment conference where we will talk about our women and particularly the widows.
“We want to look after our own,” Edet said.
The coordinator added that the empowerment conference would help the wives of DICON staff and military personnel deal with the absence created by their husbands.
“We want them to be self-sufficient, this is essentially why we are doing this,” Edet said.
The acting Chief Medical Director, 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Col. Steven Onuchukwu, lauded the gesture by the assocation.
The Commander, 461 NAF Hospital Group, Capt. Osagie Cole, appreciateD DICONOWA for considering it to benefit from the donation.(NAN)
