Abuja, July 25, 2024 (NAN)A 32-year-old  dry cleaner, Obadiah Sule, was on Friday docked in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Life Camp,  Abuja, for allegedly receiving stolen vegetable oil
The police charged Sule, who lives in Kado Estate, Abuja, with receiving stolen property
The Prosecution counsel, Mrs Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that on May 13, the complainant, Godwin  Edet, reported a case of theft against one Samson Stephen at the  Life Camp Police Station.
Nwachukwu  said the complainant claimed that on the same day, he discovered that  Stephen a staff of Seater Event Management Kado Estate, stole made 25 litres of vegetable oil and frozen foods worth N 2.3 million
She told the court that during investigations by the police, Stephen confessed that he sold the stolen vegetable oil and frozen items to Edet (the defendant).
The prosecutor said that the defendant’s dishonesty bought the stolen items, knowing that it was stolen from the complainants company.
Nwachukwu told the court that the defendant was arrested but during police investigation, he could not give a satisfactory account of his actions.
She added that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 317 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Musa Jobbo admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
Jobbo ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must produce reliable means of identification.
He adjourned the matter until Aug. 21 for hearing. (NAN)
