Duchess Hospital puts Lagos on World Healthcare Map – U.S. Consul General

Mr. Bill Bridgeland, Acting Consul General, United States Consulate, Lagos, says the newly opened Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja, has put Lagos on the world map of cities that offer excellent health care services.

Bridgeland made the assertion after a tour of the health facility which was opened by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021,.

The U.S. Acting Consul General was with his team which included Dr. Toyin Adenaike, Physician, U.S. Consulate, Lagos, on the tour of the facilities.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Duchess International Hospital has continued to receive applause for its world class facilities and highly professional and skilled clinical and allied health personnel.

The U.S. Acting Consul General who has been in Nigeria for just 15 months also said he loves Nigeria because the people are friendly and vibrant and there is “so much going on, it is an interesting place”.

Taking the team around the hospital facilities, Dr. Adetokunbo Shitta Bey , the Chief Executive Officer of the Duchess International Hospital, explained that the 100-bed fully ensuite hospital facility provides primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare services across a range of specialist and sub-specialty areas.

Shitta-Bey said, “The Duchess International Hospital is uniquely positioned to solve the problem of access to affordable healthcare on behalf of local communities and reverse the trend of people traveling abroad for medical treatment.

“It provides an impressive range of advanced and highly sophisticated facilities across a variety of specialties.

“The hospital, for example, offers the most advanced cardiac catheterization (Cath lab) suite in Africa.
