The Commissioner of Police (CP), Delta Command, Mr Abaniwonda Olufemi, has assured residents in the state of a hitch-free Easter celebration.
The commissioner gave the assurance in a statement issued through the Command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, and made available to newsmen on Friday in Warri.
Olufemi said that he had ordered the massive deployment of officers in the Command to ensure that the celebration was free of crimes.
He said that all the Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Commanders of the various Tactical Teams in the Command had been directed to increase their visibility patrol across the state.
The CP said that the Command had also drawn up additional deployments from the Department of Operations and Tactical teams, which comprised: the Dragon Patrol, RRS, CP-Decoy, Raiders Squad, Safe Delta, and Safer high way Patrol.
Others were: the Eagle-Net Special Squad, Crack Squad, and the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad.
According to Olufemi, this will help to prevent, combat, and at the same time, counter serious and violent crime during the Easter holiday and beyond.
He added that personnel would be deployed to worship centers and resort centers for adequate security.
“The police will focus on special crime awareness and prevention operations.
“Therefore, the public should be alert, be law-abiding, instrumental in the policing of their environment, and aid the police in the fight against criminality during the Easter period.
“The Command will be tightening its crime-fighting efforts during the Easter period and beyond; hence, all officers will be out in full force.
“We will work closely with other sister agencies to ensure the safety of the good and peace-loving residents in the state,” he said.
The CP also wished the people of Delta and Nigerians a hitch-free Easter celebration. (NAN)
