Mbeke–Iahieke (Ebonyi) April 9, 2026 (NAN) Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, the chairman, Ebonyi chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC),  has urged federal lawmakers in the state to emulate Sen. Onyekachi Nwebonyi in contributing to the state’s infrastructure development.

Okoro-Emegha said on Wednesday at Mbeke–Iahieke in Ebonyi Local Government Area when he led a government delegation to inspect projects executed by Nwebonyi at Local Governments Areas (LGAs) which make up his constituency.

Nwebonyi, the Deputy Senate Whip, represents Ebonyi North Senatorial District in the upper legislative chamber. The district is made up of Abakaliki, Ebonyi, Izzi, and Ohaukwu LGAs.

Some of the projects inspected were roads, classroom blocks, pipe-borne.

The APC chairman said the volume and quality of projects executed by Nwebonyi were mind-boggling and placed him on the pivotal level among other federal lawmakers from the state.

“You are complementing the governor’s infrastructure strides in the state and the party is taking notice.

“We have other National Assembly members from Ebonyi who are not doing what you are doing and at the right time we will stand by you.

“We know the relationship of our governor with President Bola Tinubu and at the fullness of time we would catapult you to the next level.

“We started this inspection around 8 a.m. but could not cover all locations due to their spread and volume,” Okoro-Emegha said.

Nwebonyi said that effective representation should transcend law-making to include delivering tangible benefits to constituents.

“Laws become mere academic exercises when they do not translate into solutions to the people’s problems.

“My developmental strategies bridge infrastructural gaps, particularly in rural communities as the initiatives are designed to complement federal and state government efforts.

“I have constructed several kilometers of concrete-paved roads with reinforced stone base and asphalt overlay; distributed over 300 motorcycles, 70 tricycles and 50 buses to farmers and youths, among others,” he said.

He assured his constituents that his best was yet to come pledging sustained focus on infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development.

The Deputy Leader of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Joseph Ononu, said that Nwebonyi’s achievements were unprecedented in the district’s history and called other lawmakers to emulate him.

“Action speaks louder than words and what we have witnessed is practical governance with direct impact on the people,” he said. (NAN)
