The screening committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the governorship election in Edo State has screened out incumbent governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki and two other aspirants, one of whom is Chief Chris Ogiemwonyi.
The seven-man screening committee, led by Prof. Ayuba Jonathan, signed a report conclusively to seal the incumbent governor’s fate.
Obaseki had, earlier on Friday, raised the arm through his media aide, Crusoe Osagie, that the party and its national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, were scheming to disqualify him from the June 22 primary election.
Quick News Africa learnt that the party had okayed the candidature of former Secretary to the Edo State government, Ize-Iyamu and others.
While raising the alarm, Obaseki’s camp had described the plan as an “extreme display of lawlessness and dictatorship by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole”.
The statement alleged that the chairman “would announce in a press conference the disqualification of Governor Obaseki”.
