Eid-el-Fitr: Sen. Abiru urges peaceful co-existence

Sen. Mukhail Abiru (Lagos-East) on Tuesday urged peaceful coexistence among Nigerians to facilitate national development.

Abiru made the appeal in his goodwill message to the Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid el-Fitr, which signifies the end of the Ramadan fast.

In a statement released by his media aide, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, in Lagos, Abiru, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, lauded Muslims for their commitment, perseverance, and sacrifices throughout the month of Ramadan.

The lawmaker, who is also the Chairman of the Southern Senators’ Forum, encouraged Muslims to uphold the virtues they cultivated during the Ramadan fast.

The lawmaker said that love, harmony, and selflessness should be learned from the Ramadan fast.

Abiru urged Nigerians to show more understanding of the current administration in the country in its quest to restore the nation to the path of sustainable growth.

He said that every citizen has a role to play in nation-building.

He said, “On behalf of my family, I extend heartfelt felicitations to my esteemed constituents, particularly the Muslim Ummah of the Lagos East Senatorial District, as we come together in celebration of the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr.

“Eid-el-Fitr symbolises unity, love, and harmony, urging us to extend kindness and compassion to one another and harness our diversity for the collective progress of our nation.

“Throughout Ramadan, we embarked on a profound journey of spiritual growth, discipline, and self-reflection.

“As we emerge from this sacred period, let us carry forward the invaluable values of sacrifice, selflessness, and obedience to the teachings of Islam into our everyday lives.”

Abiru urged Muslims to remain steadfast on the righteous path exemplified by Ramadan and to continue fostering peace, understanding, and cooperation within their communities.” (NAN)
