Eid-el-Fitri: Fintiri urges unity, tolerance among Nigerians

Yola, March 20, 2026 (NAN) Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has called on Nigerians to embrace tolerance and unity, in spite  ethnic and religious differences, to build a stronger nation.

The governor made the call in a statement on Friday in Yola, by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou.

Fintiri, while congratulating residents on he Eid-el-Fitri, said peace, unity and fairness remained essential for Nigeria’s rebirth and sustainable development.

“Nigerians should adopt the values of love, tolerance, forgiveness, and brotherhood exemplified by the holy month of Ramadan.

“Nigeria can only progress if citizens prioritize brotherly love and harmonious coexistence, enabling the country to overcome its challenges,” he said.

He expressed concerns over recent developments and appealed to traditional and religious leaders to promote vigilance and security consciousness during and after festivities.

Fintiri also advised citizens to avoid crowded places and adhere to safety measures throughout the Salah period.

He noted that Eid-el-Fitri promoted love, respect for Allah and humanity, stressing the importance of national service and unity.

The governor commended Adamawa residents for peaceful coexistence despite diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.

He acknowledged economic challenges but noted significant development in the state over the past seven years.

Fintiri urged continued support for government programmes aimed at inclusive growth and sustainable development.

He also commended security agencies for maintaining peace and expressed optimism for improved stability through collective efforts.(NAN)
