Ekiti NYSC soccer team picks southwest ticket for DG’s Cup –coach
The Ekiti state is to represent the South West zone in the national NYSC Director-General’s Cup scheduled for later in the year in Abuja, having defeated their Edo counterparts by 2-0 in the deciding match played in Ede, Osun state, for the zonal ticket.
The Coach, Kehinde Anjorin, disclosed this while reacting to the victory of the team in an interview with newsmen on Monday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Anjorin expressed gratitude to God for the victory, commending his players for their resilience and doggedness throughout the competition.
“It was a hard victory for us, because we fought in all the matches before we got to the final stage. Our match against Edo was another tough match, but we thank God that we came out victorious,” the coach said.
He added that the team had earlier defeated Lagos to get to the final and thanked their fans for their support throughout their preparation and promised a good outing at the national NYSC DG’s Cup in Abuja.
Aside football, the South West NYSC also contested in athletics, volleyball, as well as cultural dance and drama as well as comedy challenge. (NAN)
