Epe(Lagos State), Jan. 15, 2026(NAN) The Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State, Mr Monsuru Akinloye, has cautioned tanker drivers against reckless driving, in a bid to avoid recurring road accidents.

Akinloye gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Epe-Eredo on Thursday.

He expressed concerns over a fatal accident which occurred around the community on Wednesday, claiming the lives of a commercial motorcyclist and his passenger.

He described the incident as tragic and a painful loss to the community.

The council chairman urged tanker drivers to exercise extra caution and strictly adhere to traffic rules and safety regulations.

“This is to avoid reoccurrence of accidents resulting to several loss of lives, ” he said.

According to him, reckless driving by heavy-duty vehicle operators, poses serious danger to other road users, particularly pedestrians, cyclists and commercial motorcyclists who are more vulnerable on highways and inner roads.

Akinloye said that the council would intensify collaboration with relevant traffic and security agencies, to enforce compliance with speed limits and road safety laws within the LCDA.

He appealed to transport unions and tanker associations, to sensitise their members on safe driving practices, adding that human lives were more valuable than any economic gain.

The chairman also urged residents to promptly report cases of dangerous driving, to the appropriate authorities.

He said that the council remained committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property across Eredo LCDA.(NAN)
