Fake banker arraigned for allegedly swindling customer N800, 000

Abuja, March 24, 2026 (NAN) A 35-year-old fake banker, Faith Solomon, was on Wednesday arraigned in a Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly swindling her customer of N800,000.

Solomon, of Dape village Abuja, was charged with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The prosecutor, Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that the complainant, Mr Bassey Akaniyere of Dape village by LEA primary School, Abuja on Feb. 16, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station.

“Sometime in December 2025 one Glory, surname unknown, told the complainant and his wife that the defendant assists people in getting loans.

“The complainant and his wife showed interest and consulted the defendant who informed them that she is a staff of Flise Microfinance bank.

“The defendant dishonestly collected N800, 000 from the complainant to enable her process and facilitate the loan.

“The defendant collected the money and refused to give them the said loan or refund the money but rather converted the said N800, 000 to her personal use,” Nwachukwu alleged.

She said that the complainant later find out that the defendant is not a staff of Filse Microfinance bank nor have any link with the said bank.

The prosecutor said that during police investigation and interrogation, the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of her actions.

She said that the offence contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The Magistrate, Musa Jobbo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.

Jobbo ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide reliable means of identification.

The case was adjourned to March 25, for further hearing. (NAN)
