A 38-year-old farmer, Abubakar Muhammadu, was docked on Wednesday in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly being in possession of a locally made pistol with one live cartridge.
The police charged Muhammadu with unlawful possession of a live cartridge.
The prosecution counsel, Insp. Femi Omilana, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on Feb. 16, at about 10:00 . a.m., in the Akinyele area of Ibadan.
Omilana alleged that the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of why he was in possession of a cartridge.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 428 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate, Mrs. G. Oladele, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until May 23 for a hearing. (NAN)
