The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) are set to collaborate for the success of the forthcoming Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF).
The FCTA Mandate Secretary, Uboku Nyam, said this in a statement by Olayemi John-Mensah, ACCI Media and Strategy Officer on Thursday in Abuja.
According to the statement, Nyam made the commitment at a meeting with the planning committee for the trade fair, led by Dr Aliyu Hong.
Hong is the 2nd Deputy President of ACCI and Chairman of the organising committee.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the annual AITF is a vital gathering for both local and international businesses, facilitating networking, exhibitions, and service connectivity.
Nyam expressed eagerness about the forthcoming event, committing to participating and ensuring its success, which, he said, would enhance the prestige of the FCT.
He commended ACCI’s efforts in promoting business initiatives within the FCT, and emphasised the administration’s commitment to establishing a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework aimed at driving economic growth.
He hlighted the importance of collaboration in fostering a conducive business environment.
Also, the ACCI deputy president, Hong, elaborated on the theme of this year’s fair, “Mobility: Options for Transportation, Trade Finance and Taxation”.
He emphasised the chamber’s role in representing the private sector’s interests while working closely with the FCTA.
“The ACCI is an integral arm of the FCT, engaging with the business community to promote economic activities.
“Though it is a private organisation, we are doing the work of the FCT from the private sector angle.
“Everything we do is to organise the body of the private sector in the FCT for businesses in Abuja,” he said.
He commended the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for the progress in transforming the territory, adding that the development will soon enable Abuja to compare favourably with other parts of the world.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Economic Planning, Revenue Generation and PPP of the FCTA, Dogo Bodinga, recognised the ACCI’s contributions to enhancing the business landscape in the territory.
Bodinga assured that the secretariat was actively developing policies to improve the ease of doing business in Abuja, while pledging continued collaboration to ensure the success of this year’s AITF.
The Director-General of the ACCI, Mr Agabaidu Jideani, commended the Mandate Secretary for receiving the ACCI team.(NAN)
