Justice John Tsoho, the Chief Judge of FHC, said in a statement released on Tuesday by Dr Catherine Oby-Christopher, FHC’s Assistant Director of Information, that the vacation would end on April 8.
Justice Tsoho, in the statement titled: “Notification of 2024 Easter Vacation and Roster for Vacation Judges,” said that the court would resume sitting on April 9 in all its jurisdiction.
“The Federal High Court has announced its 2024 Easter Vacation Schedule and Vacation Judge Roster.
“This is pursuant to the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (b) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).
“The Court resumes sitting on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in all Judicial Divisions,” he stated.
Tsoho stated that during the vacation period, the Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt Judicial Divisions would only be open to the public in extreme cases.
“It is critical to emphasize that vacation judges will only hear cases involving the enforcement of fundamental rights, the arrest or release of vessels, and matters of urgent national interest.
“The Abuja Judicial Division will handle cases from the Federal Capital Territory, the North Central, North Western, and North Eastern regions of the country.
“The Lagos Division will handle cases from all South Western states, whereas the Port-Harcourt Judicial Division will handle cases from all states in the South-South and South Eastern Geopolitical Zones.
“Vacation judges and heads of divisions are, as usual, advised to promptly refer to the Hon. Chief Judge any matters that they believe may require His Lordship’s urgent attention and directives,” the statement concluded.(NAN)
