Mr Oyetunde Ojo, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), has bagged an Award of Excellence from the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN).
The award was presented by ACAN in Abuja on Wednesday, in recognition of his support for anti-corruption reforms and promotion of transparency in FHA.
ACAN, Provost of Prof. Sheriff Ibrahim, who presented the award, said the gesture recognizes Ojo’s commitment to promoting integrity, accountability, ethical governance and strengthening collaboration between the authority and anti-corruption institutions.
According to Ibrahim, Ojo has demonstrated a strong resolve to partner with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and ACAN to mitigate corrupt practices within the authority.
“We are here today because the managing director has resolved to partner with the ICPC and the ACAN to mitigate corrupt practices, especially within the Federal Housing Authority.
“He’s not only uniting Nigerians through housing, but equally uniting Nigerians through his anti-corruption drive”, he said
Ibrahim added that the changes in the authority, including sanitizing the environment and curtailing litigation, were signs of Ojo’s leadership prowess.
Responding, Ojo said the award was not merely a personal accolade but an affirmation of a collective commitment and the result of the hard work and integrity of the authority’s workers.
He said the award confirmed that the authority’s efforts to strengthen transparency, enforce accountability and restore public trust were yielding results.
“Today’s award confirms that our efforts are bearing fruit.
“We have seen a measurable reduction in incidents and allegations involving anti-corruption agencies, and that encouraging trend reflects deliberate policy choices, systemic reforms and a culture change within the Authority”, he said.
The managing director said that the first step toward achieving the feat was the digitalization of FHA’s operations to tackle corruption.
He said that the authority had also enhanced procurement transparency by adopting stricter open-tendering processes through digital documentation.
“Our first step was to insist on digitalization of our operations/ Through this, we were able to combat such issues as double allocation and all manners of forgery.
“We also enhanced procurement transparency by adopting stricter open-tendering processes through digital documentation,” he said.
He assured ACAN that the authority would continue to improve its processes through automation and e-platforms to minimize human discretion and increase traceability.
Also speaking, the General Manager, SERVICOM and Anti-Corruption Unit, FHA, Mrs Ebere Alalib, described the award as recognition of the authority’s commitment to transparency, accountability and good governance.
Alalibo said the honor reflected the leadership of Ojo and his management team in promoting ethical values and supporting initiatives aimed at preventing corruption.
She urged members of staff to sustain the anti-corruption drive by maintaining professionalism, honesty and accountability in the discharge of their duties. (NAN).
