The Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi has matriculated 6,268 students for the 2022/2023 academic session.
The Rector, Mr Sanusi Gumau stated this during the matriculation and orientation exervise of the newly intake students on Wednesday in Bauchi.
Represented by Dalhatu Abubakar, the Deputy Rector, Gumau said that 8,015 of the 9,372 applicants had been admitted while 6,268 registered as bonafide students of the institution.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN), He said that 1,770 students had admitted into Higher National Diploma (HND) and 4,498 others for the National Diploma (ND) programmes.
He urged the students to dedicate themselves to studies to achieve academic excellence and develop their potentials.
“We established five additional Academic Directorates and affiliated with three notable tertiary institutions for the awards of nine degree and 10 Postgraduate Diploma programmes.
“We equally made a lot of efforts in changing the face of the polytechnic and bridging the gap created by infrastructural deficit in the institution,” he said.
Earlier, the Registrar, Hajiya Rakiya Maleka said the school was famous for steadfastness in quality technological service delivery since inception.
She admornished the students to utilise the knowledge acquired during the orientation exercise by making it an integral part of their stay in the polytechnic.
“You should read, study and concentrate on your learning because tomorrow belongs to those who prepared for it today.
“I, therefore, enjoin you to shun social vices. Please, do not engage in cultism and you are expected to dress decently while in the polytechnic to conform with our dress code,” she said. (NAN)
