National Coordinator of the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE) Programme, Ife Adebayo, has called for increased investment in Nigeria’s creative industry, stressing that the sector should be treated as a viable economic driver rather than a pastime.
Adebayo made the call on Tuesday 11 August, 2026 while delivering the keynote address at the QEDNG Creative Powerhouse Summit 2.0 held at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
Speaking on the theme, “Creativity, Culture and Nigeria’s Next Chapter,” he emphasized the need for sustainable financing, supportive policies, and stronger institutional frameworks to unlock the full potential of the creative sector.
“Finance them like an industry, not just admire them like a hobby,” he said.
The keynote speaker noted that Nigeria’s creative industry has continued to demonstrate its capacity to generate employment, stimulate innovation, and project the country’s cultural identity on the global stage.
He also challenged participants to reflect on the transformative power of storytelling, asking, “What can our stories as Nigerians build for us?”
According to Adebayo, meaningful growth in the sector will require collaboration among government, investors, industry leaders, and creative professionals to build an enabling environment for talent and enterprise to flourish.
The summit, organized by Mighty Media Plus Network Limited, publishers of QEDNG, brought together business leaders, creatives, media professionals, and development experts to explore opportunities for strengthening Nigeria’s creative economy.
Participants at the event highlighted the importance of culture, innovation, and storytelling in shaping the country’s future and driving sustainable economic development.
