Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has been selected by African Association of Insect Scientists (AAIS) Award for Transformational Leadership in Food Security and Agricultural Resilience.
Fintiri, is the only serving Nigerian governor selected to receive the Award.
The development is contained in a statement by the Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Hunowashi Hunosiko, on Tuesday in Yola.
According to Hunosiko the award recognizes outstanding leadership in advancing food security and sustainable agricultural development across Africa.
“The award will be presented to the governor on Oct. 19, at the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, Abuja.
“The governor was selected in recognition of his commitment to strengthening food security, revitalizing agriculture and rebuilding rural livelihoods in the post-insurgency.
”The governor’s achievements reflect purposeful, people-centred leadership that has improved livelihoods and contributed to agricultural transformation across the continent.”
The press secretary noted that Fintiri had made sustainable investments in rural infrastructure, provided support for farming communities and implemented initiatives that enhanced agricultural resilience in the state.
The association recognized Adamawa’s growing profile as a centre for agricultural innovation and rural development.
It noted that the development placed the governor among African leaders recognized for contributions to food security, environmental sustainability and agricultural resilience.
The AAIS is a continental professional body dedicated to promoting insect science to improve agricultural productivity, biodiversity conservation, environmental sustainability and food security across Africa.(NAN).
