Kano, Feb.25, 2026(NAN) The Kano State Fire Service, in collaboration with sister agencies, successfully extinguished a fire at the Army Bukavu Barracks in Kano, preventing the destruction of property valued at approximately ₦25 million.
The State Controller, Mr Kazeem Sholadoye, made this known in a statement signed by the service’s Public Relations Officer, Al-Hassan Kantin, on Wednesday in Kano.
According to him, the service received a distress call at about noon from III Brigade Bukavu Barracks.
“Upon receiving the report, we immediately deployed our firefighters team from the Federal Secretariat station to the scene.”
Kantin said the fire affected a two-bedroom residential apartment measuring about 100 square metres.
“On arrival, our personnel worked in close collaboration with the Kano State Fire Service and Airports Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS), MAKIA.
“Preliminary investigation reveal that the inferno was ignited as a result of an electrical spark”,he said in the statement.
Kantin said due to swift response and professionalism of the personnel, property valued N25 million were saved, while estimated losses stood at N10 million.
“No casualty was recorded, and the firefighters conducted a thorough inspection to ensure that there was no further risk of fire.”
The spokesperson commend synergy and professionalism demonstrated by responding agencies and that their prompt intervention significantly curtailed extent of damage.
The spokesman advised residents to ensure safe electrical installations, engage certified electricians and install protective devices such as circuit breakers and surge protectors to prevent similar incidents.(NAN)
