Food vendor docked for allegedly causing grievous hurt to complainant

Abuja, March 10, 2026 (NAN) A 21-year-old food vendor, Khadija Ibrahim on Tuesday, appeared before a Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court in Abuja, for allegedly inflicting injury on a complainant.

The defendant who resides at Ruga village in Wuye Abuja, is standing trial on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, assault and causing grievous hurt.

She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Mrs Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that a complainant, one Mr Hussaini Alhssan of the same address, reported the matter at the Wuye Police Station on Feb. 6.

Nwachukwu alleged that the defendant and the complainant had a misunderstanding which led to provocation.

She said that the defendant then conspired with two others now at  large to attack the complainant with a knife.

She said that the complainant consequently sustained serious injury on his head, left leg and was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

The prosecutor aid that the complainant was treated, discharged with a medical bill of N1.5 million incurred.

The prosecutor added that during police investigation, the defendant made a confessional statement.

The offence  contravenes the provisions of sections 97, 265 and 247 of the Penal Code.

The Chief  Magistrates, Musa Jobbo granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500, 000  with one surety in like sum.

The court ordered that the surety must reside within the court jurisdiction and adjourned the case until April 9, for hearing. (NAN)
