Forum of former lawmakers support Masari’s administration

The Forum of former lawmakers from Katsina State, who are currently members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has aligned itself with the administration of Gov. Aminu Masari.

The forum is made of current lawmakers in both the state and national assemblies and those who served in the Second Republic and the botched Third Republic.

Alhaji Shetima Ali, a former member who represented Kaita Constituency in the National Assembly and who is also the forum chair made the disclosure in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday on the sideline of their maiden meeting in Katsina.

Ali explained that the forum, consisted former lawmakers who are mainly supporters of All Progressives Congress (APC).

He told NAN that the erstwhile members deemed it necessary to support Masari’s administration in view of his efforts in the fight against insecurity in the state.

Ali noted that despite the risks in going into Rugu forest, Masari visited the place in 2019 and dialogued met with bandits in their hideouts, but his effort failed.

The chairman pledged that former Members of NASS and the state assembly would not relent in supporting the governor to see an end to security challenges such as banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, robbery, among others in the state.

“As former lawmakers, we commend Masari who is also one of us.

“This is a man who also served as a member of the House of Representatives and who later became the Speaker of the green chamber.

“We admired his style of leadership in running the affairs of the state”, the chairman said.

He stated that the former lawmakers appreciated Masari’s efforts in human development and providing social security to the poor.

Also speaking, the Secretary of Forum, Hajiya Mariya Abdullahi, thanked the governor for his gender-inclusiveness in his political appointments.

“As you can see Masari has appointed women to key political offices in the state,” Abdullahi said. (NAN)
