Hope Raisers Global Foundation (HRGF), a non-governmental NGO, has paid school fees to no fewer than 50 indigent pupils in commemoration of the birthday of its member of the board of trustees, Mr. Mitchell Okpu.
The Founder of the foundation, Mrs Angonimi David-Imeh, disclosed this on Friday while celebrating Okpu’s birthday with no fewer than 500 children at Waru community in Apo District of FCT.
David-Imeh said the foundation also gave cash donations to 30 women to support their businesses.
According to her, the gesture is in commemoration of the birthday of Mr. Mitchell Okpu, a member of the board of trustees of the foundation billed for March 24.
She said the foundation was also carrying out the task of fulfilling provisions 1 and 2 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which dwell on eliminating hunger and poverty.
“These activities are being carried out in line with SDGs 1 and 2 and as part of our work at Hope Raisers Global Foundation to curb hunger and poverty,” the founder said.
According to her, Okpu is a board of trustees member of HRGF in charge of consultancy in the diaspora.
“This is also done in line with the vision of HRGF; we have empowered 30 women and paid the school fees of 50 children, all to commemorate Mitchell’s birthday and, by extension, meet our vision for 2024.
“Our 2024 goal is to positively affect the lives of 50,000 needy persons across the 36 states of Nigeria and FCT,” she said.
She said that HRGF social impact programmes are steering up inclusion for the poor unemployed woman to be included in the employment cadre and the out-of-school children to be sent back to school.
David-Imeh said that bringing up the development indexes of unemployment and out-of-school children was part of the basic vision of the foundation.
“The foundation also has a sensitization for the children on the subject of mathematics, which it said many children found difficult to cope with.”
She added that the foundation was able to simplify the explanation of mathematics, making the children aware that every aspect of human daily life was centred on calculations from the time of waking up from sleep.
“Waking up at a particular time to dress up for school and all activities throughout the day is calculated, and that’s mathematics,” the foundation boss explained.
“The children were asked how mathematics affected their meal being prepared by their mothers, and some of the children responded to the question,” she said.
Mrs. Musa Abdullahi, a groundnut and garden egg seller who benefited from a cash donation, thanked the organisation for supporting her business.
She pledged to use the N15,000 cash gift to boost her business.
Ekene Kelvin, one of the pupils who benefited from the school fees paid by the organization, also thanked the organisation for the gesture. (NAN)
