
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has trained 1,646 personnel and graduated 20 junior officers from the Staff College, Udi, Enugu State.
This was announced in a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Mr Olusegun Ogungbemide, on Thursday in Abuja.
According to Ogungbemide, the Corps has inaugurated a comprehensive capacity-building programme, leading to the training of personnel across various cadres and the graduation of junior officers.
He quoted Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, stating that the programme aimed to empower staff with the latest skills, knowledge, and best practices in road safety management.
Mohammed, represented by Deputy Corps Marshal Chidi Okwonta, emphasised the Corps’ investment in the future of road safety in Nigeria.
He said that he training, a first of its kind was designed to enhance skills and knowledge to meet evolving demands in road safety management and traffic administration.
The Corps Marshal highlighted the initiative’s focus on positioning FRSC as a leading road safety agency, equipped to address complex challenges.
He added that the training programmes would feature a combination of theoretical and practical sessions, workshops, and mentoring by in-house and international experts.
He said the programmes covered traffic enforcement and management, road safety education and advocacy, data analysis and research, leadership and management development, digital literacy, and technology adoption.
He also said a total of 1,646 personnel have been trained, including 341 Unit Commanders, 415 Road Marshal Assistants, 700 Drivers, 90 Monitoring and Evaluation Officers, and 100 junior officers.
The Corps Marshal assured that FRSC would prioritise ongoing training and professional development for its officers and personnel to ensure exceptional service delivery and optimal performance.
Additionally, a Marshal refresher course on repositioning FRSC for enhanced service delivery in patrol and rescue operations was inaugurated on August. 25.(NAN)
