Kano State government has condemned the violent protest by some irate youth in Gaya, home town of Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya and Honorable Abdullahi Mahamud Gaya which led to the razing of houses and other properties belonging to the federal lawmakers.
Speaking to journalists on the attack, the state Commissioner for Information, Comrade Mohammed Garba said, after reviewing the situation, the government of Kano State came to the conclusion that the violent protest was instigated by those who had an axe to grind with no justifiable premise, adding that the Ganduje administration had the good intention to improve the lot of people they govern.
Noting the issue of water supply was a burden the present administration had inherited and was willing to tackle with determination, vigour and seriousness, Garba added that the effort to provide potable drinking water to all the nooks and crannies of the state was a major cardinal thrust of the Ganduje administration.
He, however, stated that the Ganduje administration had inherited a huge debt burden for the contracts executed by contractors agitating to be settled, pointing out that Gaya and other politicians were working in tandem with stakeholders to address the issue of water and electricity in Gaya town.
He said, while the violent protest had exposed the irresponsibility of those hiding under the facade of  politics to cause mayhem in a prevailing atmosphere of peace, those found to be the masterminds of the rampage would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Garba Commended the police for their timely intervention, adding that the government will support the police in prosecuting the 24 suspects arrested in connection with the violence.
The Ganduje administration remained fully committed to sustaining  peace at all times. our government have no safe haven for hoodlums who wanted to breach peace”, he said.
He warned trouble makers to desist from fermenting trouble, saying that the government will not condone any act that will breach the hard earned peace in the state.
