Bremen, Germany, Sept. 4, 2025 (dpa/NAN) A man was detained at an airport in northern Germany after a pistol was found in his luggage, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred at Bremen Airport on Wednesday.
During routine security checks, inspectors found the weapon, including a silencer and ammunition, in his checked baggage.
“The incident shows that security mechanisms are working,” a police spokesman said.
The 56-year-old reportedly told officers that someone put the gun in his suitcase while it was unattended as he went to the toilet.
The man, from the region of East Frisia, later gave contradictory statements and was detained by police.
His flat had been searched and investigations are ongoing into why he was carrying the weapon. (dpa/NAN)
