A non-governmental organisation, called “Dr Abdullahi Mustapha (DAM), has empowered 500 youths from Kogi Central Senatorial District in different skills.
Speaking at the event on Thursday in Okene, the founder of DAM, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, said over 500 youths, including men and women, have benefitted from the empowerment programs.
Abdullahi, who is the Director General, Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), said thousands of exercise books had been distributed to students in the district.
“Additionally, hundreds of empowerment tools, such as POS machines, welding materials, carpentry materials, umbrellas for market women, and overalls for mechanics, have been given to beneficiaries to enhance their livelihood,” he said.
The ECN boss, who is an indigene of the state, expressed his unwavering dedication to the development of Ebiraland.
Abdullahi said that his foundation had impacted meaningfully in transforming the lives of the downtrodden and listed the various projects he had attracted to the community.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and security in the area, saying that such stability was fundamental to the successful implementation of developmental projects.
In a remark, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Dr. Tijani Muhammed-Anaje, urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the empowerment to better their lives.
The royal father commended the founder of DAM for the gesture and urged other well-meaning sons and daughters of the land to invest in human capital development.
“We appreciate your relentless efforts in uplifting the community, particularly through youth empowerment initiatives and other developmental programs,” Ohinoyi said.
The paramount ruler emphasised the importance of such contributions in driving societal progress and enhancing the wellbeing of the people.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ECN boss had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the Ohinoyi in his palace, describing it as an opportunity to foster mutual understanding between the commission and community.
Abdullahi said that the visit would strengthen the ties between the traditional institution and the commission to enhance massive development of the land. (NAN)
