Helicopter crash: Saraki, Dogara shun politics, felicitate with Osinbajo

In solidarity with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo over the recent helicopter crash, Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara, Speaker of the House of Representatives on Saturday were full of praises to God for saving the Vice President from the helicopter, which crash-landed in Kabba, Kogi State.
The Vice President and all occupants of the chopper, owned and operated by Caveton Helicopters were rescued by Nigerians who were at hand when the ugly incident occurred.
Speaking on the development, Saraki, via his official Twitter page, wrote: “I join all Nigerians in thanking Almighty God for sparing the life of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who survived a helicopter crash over Kabba, Kogi State today.”
On his part, Speaker Dogara, who was full of praises to God for the safety of the Vice President and other occupants of the helicopter, called on government to ensure diligent checks on government owned aircraft in order to avoid a recurrence of such incidence.
“I join His Excellency, Prof Yemi Osinbajo in thanking the Almighty God for saving him and his team from any fatality in the unfortunate incident in Kogi State.
“I urge relevant authorities to conduct due diligence checks on all government owned aircraft to prevent a recurrence,” Dogara urged.
Affirming the incident, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo via his Twitter handle, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Lord for preserving our lives from the incident that just happened. Everyone of us is safe and no one is maimed.
“We are safe and sound! Thank you to everyone who has expressed concern and thank you to the crew who managed the situation well.
“We believe that God will continue to keep us and Nigeria safe even as we Kris-cross the country during these campaigns,” Osinbajo said.
Recall that similar ugly incident occurred on June 7, 2018, when the chopper that was to convey Osinbajo from the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada-Abuja, was forced to land, few seconds after takeoff.
Osinbajo was in the school for the graduation ceremony of Senior Division Course 1/2018 participants. The chopper had earlier taken the Vice President to the College for the ceremony.
