Ibadan, March 31, 2026 (NAN) A hotel manager, Emmanuel Asuqua, and a receptionist, Dasola Adebayo, were on Tuesday arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing a guest’s motorcycle.

The defendants, Asuqua, 47, and Adebayo, 22, who worked at Classic Liberty Hotel, Liberty Road, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Oct. 27, 2025, at about 12.30 a.m. at Classic Liberty Hotel, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

Tellang alleged that the defendants conspired and stole a Chassis Lucky Plus motorcycle valued at N1.8 million, property of Mr Mura Ahmed.

The prosecutor said that Ahmed lodged at the hotel and parked his motorcycle there, while Asuqua and Adebayo were on duty as manager and receptionist, respectively.

He said that the defendants were the only staff on duty on the said date when the motorcycle was parked.

He added that the complainant could not find his motorcycle when he was about to leave the hotel.

Tellang said that the offences contravene Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwaferanmi Raji, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until May 20 for hearing. (NAN)
