A housewife, Bilkisu Yahaya, has dragged her husband, Sani Muhammed, before an Upper Area Court in Mararaba, Nasarawa State for alleged physical, psychological, and emotional abuse.
In Suit No. UAC/MG/CV/03/2025 filed on March 17, 2025, of Masaka, Nasarawa state told the court she married the respondent, a businessman in 2024 under Islamic Laws and Customs.
“My husband hits me. He is ill-tempered and accuses me of infidelity.
“He stopped me from visiting my parents. He forced me into staying with his younger brother in Lokoja, Kogi for seven months while pregnant,” she said.
She said that her husband threatened to kill her.
The petitioner also told the court that the respondent paid only N100,000 as dowry and presented an empty suitcase as wedding gift.
Yahaya, therefore, prayed the court for the dissolution of the marriage, and an order to return the respondent’s N100,000 dowry, empty suitcase, bed and mattress.
The judge, Malam Mohammed Shomo, adjourned the matter until Aug. 5 for hearing.(NAN).
